Love Yourself, Accept Yourself, Forgive Yourself

It's Monday and I'm sure many of you are recovering from the weekend, so I figured that this would be a good time to give you some motivation to get you through the week.

I recently stumbled across this great article on the Tiny Buddha blog by Jennifter Pastiloff
Jennifer Pastiloff, founder of Manifestation Yoga, writes this amazing article talking about 3 key things...

1. Love Yourself
  • Despite all the things that you think may be terribly wrong with you, love yourself.
  • “Love yourself—accept yourself—forgive yourself—and be good to yourself, because without you the rest of us are without a source of many wonderful things.” ~Leo F. Buscaglia
  • What can you love about yourself today that you may have struggled with before?
2. Forgive Yourself

  • What can you forgive yourself for today?
  • Sometimes it takes simply saying it aloud or writing it down to realize that you actually no longer need to bear the brunt of it.

3. Be good to yourself. Do things daily that inspire you daily
  • Make a list. Grab your iPad or your notepad or even your hand and draw up a list of things you can do today to make you feel good
  • Be good to yourself. You will train other people to do the same. And guess what? If they aren’t good to you, you will still have your old standby who is always good to you: YOU. Pretty much what matters most at the end of the day. You being good to you. The rest will follow.

You can read the full article here and check out more blog posts on this same topic.

So...spend some time this week thinking about the ways in which you can Love Yourself, Accept Yourself and Forgive Yourself. Do yourself a favor, take a deep breath, give yourself a little hug, and most importantly enjoy being you.

How It Went Down at Booty Works in LA

Happy Friday everyone! I wanted to recap the training that Ann Marie and Stacey did at Booty Works in LA a few weeks ago. SoulBody went West Coast for their first BodyBarre Training Booty Works. They trained some amazing instructors that will help launch Soul Body on the West Coast!

They also filmed a class in West Hollywood.

A glimpse of Stacey and Ann Marie's favorite beauty supplies.

They also got to take some fun classes.

They checked out the local organic food scene!

And...

Spent some time enjoying the gorgeous Cali weather.

They met some great people and are excited to continue to grow Soul Body nationally and beyond!

Next Stop Orlando - where Ann Marie and Stacey will be hitting the IHRSA Conference to meet and greet and showcase SB Barre and SB Body Barre - lot’s of meetings already set up with some great influencers in the fitness industry!

Have an amazing weekend!!

Bring it Spring...the March Fitness Calendar

Finally we have some warm weather and lots of sunshine. I hope you all are taking advantage (after barre class of course!) In case you didn't know, March is National Nutrition Month and BMOREtoned has come out with their monthly fitness calendar that is going to help you stay motivated all month long. I'll also be posting some recipes and would love to know what healthy recipes you incorporate into your weekly meal plan.

So...onto the calendar. Here are just a few of the upcoming events. To see the full calendar hop on over to BMOREtoned.

Friday, March 11th: POP ROCKS triple toning class at BeachFit. Class will include power cycle, bootcamp and TRX. Sign up here to reserve your spot.

Saturday, March 12th: Metabolism workshop with Nutrition by Erin. This is an hour long workshop where she'll be discussing her 6 tips to improve your metabolic rate and achieve a healthy body weight. Register here

Sunday, March 13th: Under Armour Kelly St. Patrick's Day 5K. The race ends at PowerPlant live with a great after-party. How many of you are running?

Saturday, March 19th: Rejuvenate & Recover with Jason Williams with an hour long class to teach proper technique of foam rolling, stretching and corrective exercises. Stretching is so important and taking the time to properly stretch will help you become less prone to injury and increase your flexibility which will help improve your barre form. Register here.

What events are you doing?

What are some events you would like SoulBody to put together in the spring/summer?

Have a fabulous week!

Instructor Spotlight is Headed to Richmond

Happy Wednesday everyone. I hope everyone had a great weekend and is excited about it being March which is one month closer to spring. There is lots to talk about, but I'll save that for later this week/weekend. I'd first like to get back to the instructor spotlight. The member spotlight will be coming soon as soon as I get some more responses. Until then, we are heading to Richmond and talking with an SB Body Barre instructor at Gold's Gym.

Instructor Spotlight:

Stacie Haygood

Where do you teach?
I teach SB BodyBarre on Thursdays at 9:35 am at our Gold's Gym Mechanicsville location.

What other classes do you teach besides BodyBarre?
I also teach other formats such as BodyPump, BodyStep, BodyAttack, CXWorx, and Grit.

I am the GGX Director for 5 of our locations in Richmond so I stay pretty busy, but I couldn't be successful without the help of my wonderful GGX managers: Shanna Lent, Michelle Mattson and Jami Town who also trained and teach SB BodyBarre.

What is your favorite meal or snack post workout?
My favorite recovery snack is a protein shake.

What do you never leave home without?
I never leave home without my iPhone! Not only does it have all my music and chorey notes on it, but it is a must to stay in touch with my instructors and GGX Managers!!!

What is your favorite workout gear?
I love my Format Specific workout gear such as Les Mills and SoulBody. I feel it shows professionalism and helps to advertise the classes we offer at Golds RVA!

If you could pick one of your favorite barre moves...what would it be?
My favorite Barre move is the "releve". Mainly because it works the calf muscle which isn't specifically focused on in the other formats I teach.

Why do you love teaching BodyBarre?
I love teaching BodyBarre because it is low impact and trains my body in a different way than the other formats I teach.

Tell us your favorite quote.
My favorite quote is "if it doesn't challenge you it doesn't change you"

Any advice for first timers at the barre?
My advice for BodyBarre beginners is to always remember that there are options and modifications that can be made to fit all our members fitness levels.

Thank you Stacie for being in our spotlight this week. We are fortunate to have you a part of the SoulBody Squad.

Check back later in the week for the March Fitness Calendar!!!
